This blog (5) – book reviews

No book review today, but they will continue on this site on Sunday mornings. I’m reading two books at the moment and one of them will be reviewed next Sunday.

Since 2012 I have reviewed (with some help from others, particularly Ian Carter) c250 books, almost all books with strong natural history content. You will often read about new books here before anywhere else – very often.

Here are my ‘books of the year’ during that period:

2020 (see shortlist):

  • Cottongrass Summer by Roy Dennis published by Saraband (review).
  • Red sixty-seven: a collection of words and art inspired by Britain’s most vulnerable birds curated by Kit Jewitt published by the BTO (review).

2019 (see shortlist):

  • Green and Prosperous Land: a blueprint for rescuing the British countryside by Dieter Helm published by Harper Collins (review).

2018 (see shortlist):

  • Wilding: the return of nature to an English farm by Isabella Tree published by Picador (review).

2017 (see shortlist):

  • Sky Dancer by Gill Lewis published by OUP (review).

2016 (see shortlist):

  • Fingers in the Sparkle Jar by Chris Packham published by Ebury Press (review).

2015 (see shortlist):

  • The Shepherd’s Life by James Rebanks published by Penguin books (review).

2014 (see shortlist):

  • The Twitch by Kevin Parr published by Unbound (review).

2013 (see shortlist).
