“Meghan wishes she could have flown to the U.K. to support her husband but has been advised not to due to her pregnancy,” a source close to the Duchess of Sussex told E! News. Meghan’s doctors advised her against traveling as she is due early this summer. “She would have put all the family tension aside to be there with Harry,” the source added. But while she and Prince Harry both want to be there in person to give their condolences, the insider explained they “are still not on amazing terms with the family,” following their explosive interview with Oprah last month during which they accused the royals of racism and a general lack of support.
And it seems that Harry would’ve preferred to have his wife with him, as well, as Us Weekly reported on Tuesday that he’s very worried about leaving his pregnant wife back in America. “He’s already really missing Meghan and Archie and has been FaceTiming them every day to check in,” a source told the outlet. “He actually speaks to Meghan a few times a day because he worries [about] leaving her when she’s so far along in her pregnancy,” which is also why he only plans to stay in the U.K. “for a week,” leaving shortly after the service on Saturday. According to the E! News insider, “Harry wants to make sure Meghan and the baby are healthy and not involved in stressful situations,” especially given that she suffered a miscarriage last summer.
They added, however, that there is one silver lining to Meghan being forced to stay in California in that it will allow Harry and Prince William the opportunity to continue “working on their relationship” after their year-long rift and ahead of the June unveiling ceremony for the statue dedicated to their late mother Princess Diana. But while making amends with their family ranks high on the couple’s list of priorities, the source explained that primarily “They have been focused on their new roots in Montecito and the pregnancy.”
